The Monastery of Pounta, monastery of saint Paraskevi

It is located on the right of Mesopotamia within a radius of 10 km, close to the village of Kastri, in the municipality of Parga at the entrance of Kanalaki.

It is one of the most important monuments in the area, it is a place of martyrdom of Saint Osiomartyros Paraskevi and a pilgrimage destination of religious nature and worship as it was martyred there during Roman times when Tarrasios was governor of Thessaloniki in 140 AD, who beheaded her in stone located inside the temple.

Inside the Katholikon of the Church, there is the tomb of Agia Paraskevi, a place of worship, votive offerings, and invocations.

Until 1913 the Monastery maintained a School Archive, in 1975 the Christian building was renovated, and until today it is a nunnery. local and wider tradition.
